This course explores selected topics in the law, policy, and politics of artificial intelligence (AI). It beings with a historical understanding of the development of information technologies and computer sciences that lay the foundation for neural networks, advanced algorithms, and the digitization of data. Using a four-factor approach: law, market, social norms, and technology, students explore the global landscape and its implications for situating AI in international regulatory and US regulatory law, information policy, intellectual property, environmental law and sustainability, the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and content management, antitrust and corporate law, and cybersecurity.
